BILLY YATES STORMS TO TOP OF HOTDISC CHART

September 11, 2008

(From Stuart Cameron's CHI Hotdisc Report)

There's an excellent case now for Billy Yates to be crowned as Country Music's top independent artist. The former Epic Recording artist, who was dropped by the label several years back, consistently comes up with quality music, and the DJs have clearly responded to it as he once again sweeps all comers aside to go straight to number one with his latest single, "In The Light Of Day", in the Hotdisc main and independent charts.

YATES PACKS 'EM IN AT CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL

June 09, 2008

Billy Yates, the only artist to host and perform at the CMA Music Festival's Greased Lightning Daytime Stages,  drew a large UK and European crowd that filled the stands at Sunday morning's "Classic Country Show" at Riverfront Park. According to event executive producer, Jeff Walker, this was the largest crowd the festival has seen on its regular Sunday morning slot. Also on the bill were country legends, Bill Anderson, Mel McDaniel, Jimmy Fortune, Lane Brody and Con Hunley.

"It was amazing to see so many of my friends weather the hot temperatures to join in the fun", says Yates. "All week long they seemed to be everywhere I went, singing along and having a good time to the music".

The reigning European CMA "Male Vocalist of the Year" also took time to meet with a number of foreign groups attending the four day festival. Those stops included private acoustic shows for groups from the UK and Germany along with a breakfast stop with a group from Switzerland.
On Wednesday evening, Yates hosted his annual "Countriest of the Country" fan club party with a packed house at the Ernest Tubb Texas Troubadour Theater where he introduced, guests such as T. Graham Brown, Michael Peterson, Tammy Cochran and Chris Young among others. The show not only serves as a place for fans to see some of their favorite country stars perform, but it's purpose is also to raise money for Christmas for the Children, a non-profit group that raises money throughout the year to take underprivileged children Christmas shopping later in the year.

ANOTHER NUMBER ONE FOR BILLY YATES

June 06, 2008

(From Stuart Cameron's CHI Hotdisc Report)

As expected it's all change in the Hotdisc chart this week as the new releases kick in, and it's that man again, Billy Yates, who storms to the top of the main chart and the Independent list with the title cut from his new album "That's Why I Run" on its first week of release. Brianie drops down from the top spot after three weeks at the helm while Daniel O'Donnell holds firm at number 3 with his most country offering for ages, "Mother's Birthday Song". There's another high new entry at 5 with Australian heartthrob Travis Collins doing very well with "Didn't We Love".

CHI Hotdisc is one of Europe's most respected charts reflecting the reactions of radio presenters all over Europe.

"That's Why I Run" was written by Yates, along with Smokin' Grapes Music Publishing writers, Billy Ryan and David Kroll.
